I live in Switzerland and I bought a small investment appartement in France. I opened a bank account at LCL bank but as a “no-resident” in France I pay 10 EUR per month for that account (I get the rent on it, I pay the french tax, the building insurance : nothing more)
Do you have a better solution (to not pay 120 EUR/year for that account) ?
I need an IBAN starting with FR not a currency wallet (EUR) only.
When I bought the appt, I tried with my CH IBAN but it was not accepted for some actions (one example : paying the electricity when renovating → the french company needed a FR IBAN - mandatory )
PS : I don’t have a credit so no problem on that side.
If you need an actual French bank you can try Credit Agricole. I have an account for similar purposes and don’t pay account fees. Not terribly impressed with their offering but once you work around the limits it does the job.
Thanks to you both SwissMousse and EPeon! I’ll have a look at Crédit Agricole.
And yes, I know that it should work… but yep ! as EPeon said : it is France…
Some years ago (5), to open that LCL acount was quite a story as I got several refusal as “non resident” from several french banks.
I had to write the Banque de France (the bank of all banks…) to tell them that I have a legal right to get a bank in France as a french person non-resident and need their help
I then got a letter from that Banque de France and went with it to LCL to force them to open an account ! So yes, the law states some rules but in practice…
I’ll try crédit agricole and boursobank (these two I did not try those years ago) - It might be the solution
