IBKR technical error: session cookies

Hi Everyone,

My question might be simple, but I haven’t been able to find a solution online.

I have two bank accounts linked to my IB account. However, whenever I try to transfer money using these linked accounts (IB uses Plaid as an intermediary), I always encounter the error shown below.

I’ve already tried several things, such as clearing browser history, switching browsers (Chrome, Safari, Edge, Firefox), using my mobile device, and even a different laptop, but the issue persists.

At this point, the only way I can deposit funds into IB is through a standard bank transfer.

Has anyone experienced this issue and found a workaround or solution?

Thanks a lot

Have you tried contacting IBKR support?

That’s the standard way of depositing funds for Swiss residents. What’s the issue with normal bank transfers?

As far as I can tell, IBKR doesn’t even support linking Swiss bank accounts and Plaid doesn’t list Switzerland as available market.

Is this about a foreign bank account?

Speculation:

IBKR may require third-party cookies. Such third-party cookies have been blocked by default by Firefox and Chrome for several years/months for data protection reasons.

(which, in my humble opinion, shows just how outdated the IBKR web interface is)

It sounds like 3rd party cookies, but I’d be careful in case your computer has been compromised.

I would find it more convenient to transfer money with Plaid, as that requires just a couple of clicks.

I have both a Swiss and foreign bank account linked to IB. However, I get this error in both cases

Yes, that was my conclusion as well.

It’s honestly surprising how poor the web interface is. I previously used Degiro, and its UI is far better. But that’s a separate discussion.

What I don’t understand is why I seem to be the only one experiencing this issue. I haven’t found any similar reports online, which makes me assume that it simply works fine for most other users.

No, this is not the case. I also tried from another laptop and a mobile.

It’s really awful. I avoid it as much as possible.

The mobile app is good as is TWS.
