IBKR reports and SQ

I have an annoying issue with the SQ part of PF’s etrading support. I can see the excellent (imho) PF support trying to balance the issue between me and the other … person.
I transferred some ETFs to PF and asked to set the price according to what I paid it. They, of course, set the price they paid for it, since the exchange between banks is a sell-buy thing, not a real exchange.
It’s already the 4th message where I try to convince them to change the price with screenshot but they want documents. How do I get a PDF from IB that shows only that single position? There is no way you can do that, am I right?

run a custom report for that day (assuming you have only one trade that day).

Well, no. I can run a trade report for that day and that would be OK. But:

  1. I have 10 trades for that ETF, so 10 reports
  2. the normal report shows all your account items. So for now I will send them 10 trade reports and let them play with the calculator since they don’t accept my screenshot.

There isn’t a way to run a report for only one security on IBKR

When I moved position from IB to SQ, I shared the screenshot of cost basis of the position which I took before I transferred the security.

It seems PF doesn’t accept those and need a real report showing purchases. I think you might need to share the report which includes other securities too or you need to run multiple daily activity reports and combine them

I let them combine them. How can I combine them then?

I think you need to run activity report on 10 days when you made the trades and then you will end up with 10 PDFs. you can then send them the info.

No. The Activity Statement (is an A. Report something else?) shows a snapshot of that day, which means the whole amount of stuff you have in your account + anything happened that day, which is usually the trades you want to show.

I actually don’t know how to get report for only one security.

If you select very explicit view of positions in IB, sorry, can’t tell you exactly how it is called, any daily report will show you individual lots of a position, with all purchase prices, commissions etc.

P.S. though I really don’t understand why do you care.

To see the correct P&L for the security in the broker’s portal ?

And why do you care about it? :joy:

I only look at the total value of each fund/asset class. I think it should help avoiding many behavioral mistakes.

For this reason, I don’t include my purchase price, or gain in my reports. This way I try to reduce anchoring bias, etc.

This is the reason (even if it’s for VT and on Sheets)

It helps. Every time the market goes down I’d be nervous if my cost is near. Once it’s far away, I’m less nervous. It’s not about actions but more about sleeping better.
Also, for VT I also like to see that all theories stands (7-8% per year growth)

sure it’s psychological and sure anchoring bias / behavioral mistakes are valid points, however if you extrapolate this reasoning to your entire portfolio—assuming all positions are transferred—you would lose the ability to track its past performance. While I think we all agree that the focus should be on the future rather than the past, from a psychological perspective, some may feel more at ease seeing a 5% drop as a reduction of previous unrealized gains rather than as an unrealized loss.

I find that you are having this issue and need to send a report weird. I don’t doubt you, just weird that you seem to have one extreme and I have another, at the same company, i.e. weird of the company.

Let me explain my situation:
I don’t care about the buy price and P&L shown at Pf, since I track that privately, and price without date doesn’t say much anyway. So I don’t deliver a price (I leave the field empty on the Pf form that I fill out), and when I transfer Postfinance have always set some stock price on the day of transfer, which is fine with me.
Except last time, where they set the prices of all the incoming stocks at Fr 1, which then showed fantabulous gains of 33’000% etc. for a stock at Fr 330, for example.
Now, I said above I don’t care about P&L shown at Pf, but these “stupid numbers” irritated me.
So I wrote in a simple mail, please change to Fr X.
And they did that, no report required or anything.

TBH. I did exactly the same last time I moved something. I’ve added screenshots and they accepted it. I have no idea why they changed, maybe new rules? I wonder why since it’s not a big deal even having wrong numers as you did.
Price without date does say enough to me, since the date I use is implied. You are right though, about the private tracking of things. as I showed above. for VT.
