You know what is funny? A few years ago, I was talking to friend #3 when he had a low 8 digit wealth trying to convince him that he had enough to retire already and he didn’t need to stress out over finances!
He’s more frugal than me and I suspect his expenses are lower than mine, yet he was still worrying.
Retirement is a lot about mindset and not just about Net worth. You can see around you. People retire with different level of lump sums and they are alright

We knew each other from university. I worked to make others rich. He started his own companies and sold them and became rich. Nothing to make you feel like an under-achiever than having someone 3 years younger than you be retired with multiples of your net worth!
