Girlfriend applied for C permit and got the following letter at home.? What's the issue? Did anyone else got itt?

Hi Folks my girlfriend applied for C permit recently and got this letter at home from the Personenmeldeamt. Do you think it could be related? OR if its good news or bad news? She is travelling now and cannot go there or call. Would you have any idea if its a good thing or bad thing for the C permit application or nothing is related? Thanks in advance.

BTW I called and they say they cannot speak to me and it has to be her, of course XD And she can’t call for at least 10 days as she is in one of those meditation retreats of 10 days without phone access.

You got a 4 day buffer, it’ll be alright.

no buffer, cause i just saw the letter now and many days have passed. But even without buffer, i would just like to know if tis good or bad news regarding c permit. or unrelated

I will let those who have actual experience in the process answer more appropriately but this part tells me it’s not make or break and that they’ll reschedule on their own (with some fees, that are usually not abusive).

“Weitere Erinnerungsbriefe sind gebühren-pflichtig.”

As you have called them and hopefully explained the situation, I think they’re knowing she won’t be able to make it and no reputational harm will be done.

I don’t think it is anything critical, but:

Aren’t you too much controlling? She is an adult and you are not even married to e.g. have common finances.

how controlling? I am just helping her of course and also curious to know if its good news or not, cause it’s something she really wants and her happiness makes me happy of course.

Did she ask you to open her letters? Do you do this usually and does she agree with it?

She will tell you when she wants.

Are we debating my relationship dynamics here? Ofc she was the one asking me to reply to any urgent/bills letters for her, while she was gone, like she would do it for me… though i was also away for some time, hence noone was at home when the letter arrived.

I wouldn’t worry too much. Simply because you can’t do anything anyway. I’ve never had to deal with such issues before, but I see it the same way as @Wolverine: Since the letter mentions a second deadline, it seems to me that the authorities have already planned for missing deadlines.

Otherwise, I would call again and ask for more general information. Make it clear that you do not want any personal information, only general information that does not reveal any personal data. So more information on the process, deadlines, what happens if a C-Permit applicant misses a deadline, etc. My tip for such problems: Be friendly on the phone and say something that we men don’t like to say, e.g. that you’re scared or that you feel alone not knowing the answer. Share your feelings (but no anger). You’ll be amazed at how helpful some people suddenly become.

I think it is related. Iirc we had to go to the local police station for an interview when we applied for C (different canton and >15 years ago anyway)

If this deadline is leagally really important they would have send the letter at least A+ or SI.

In my opinion she shoud call when shes back tell briefly that she just came home thats it. If there are questions asked she could always submit booking etc as proof. It is prefectly reasonable to be 2 weeks gone.

I dont see this as any kind of issue.

A simple request to see the passport etc.

I’d not worry too much.

Belt & Braces would be for you to write back with a copy of the letter saying she is oversease etc but will be back shortly.

They just want to clarifie her situation ie where shes living and IN WHAT TYPE OF relationship she is with you. Married, in couple or just living together (ie declared flatmate)? They want to know where your for administrative read tax and paperwork reason.
She’d better show up ASAP because the next letter will carry a fine.
If she can’t prove where she lives long-term, they certainly can’t send her a permit C. It is linked with proof continuous résidence after all.
Só much for yoga retreats.
This is Switzerland…

Yeah, better have a good explanation for the “many days that have passed” before that yoga retreat. And some bookings to prove when she left Switzerland and when she booked the travel back.
Though if she does, I think you can relax, you’re allowed to go on holidays after all :+1:

Also from my side: I received a letter requesting additional proof for both my B and C permits. Both times, I provided the required documents, and without further delay, I received my passports. It feels like this is just a routine check, but with varying procedures. :see_no_evil: I don’t see anything negative about this ‘routine’ request—if anything, it’s probably a good sign that they just need one more thing. And the fact that she can answer by phone makes it even more relaxed. For now, there’s nothing to worry about, except for the additional charges due to the postponement (maybe).

It’s an invitation to apply for C-permit. Nothing to worry about, she will just need to call them to fix the date.
