@_MP: any reason why forum performance has really slowed down? It was inaccessible for a bit yesterday and very slow for the last days. Sometimes it ran in degraded mode.

It took 10 minutes just to post this thread and I also just got a 429 error “429 Too Many Requests” in another tab plus a 504 error, so maybe an intermediate proxy is also getting hit. Perhaps the site is getting hammered by some bots?
My own site has ChatGPT and other AI crawlers hammering on it for months now at 10x the normal user traffic.

OK. It looks like the server was rebooted or something as I got logged out and now things are snappy again.
I had errors (Gateway timeout) when posting yesterday with the result of my posting appearing 3 times (I did delete 2 later). Today I had the same error but the posting did appear later.

Seems to always work fine for me from the phone, and often struggling from a PC, for several months.
Thanks for reporting. I got monitoring alerts last weekend while I didn’t change anything. The alerts stopped on Sunday.
I will double check again with the hosting provider. Please tag me again if you still experience those issues during the upcoming weekend.

Out of curiosity, what did the alerts say?
This seems to be a global phenomenon: I know of several websites that are being DDoS-ed by many AI crawlers. For example Codeberg (News). They then have to increase resources, disable features for anonymous users, introduce rate limits, or use tools such as Anubis.
Companies such as Cloudflare have even made this their business model.
Simple check “Website down/up” based on URL being reachable or not/timeout.

I checked and there were indeed some weird/unusual peak of load in the past weeks. Is it AI crawlers or similar, or something else… unsure, I keep monitoring it over the next days/weeks.
