Finpension VB accounts and Bitcoin

I have a vested benefit account with Finpension with the amount split across 2 foundations.

Recently realized it was possible to also put max 5% into a bitcoin etf like product and with the drop in bitcoin price I stepped in with 3% in one of the two foundations.

Then wanted to also allocate 3% in the second foundation but it wasn’t possible. I asked Finpension about it but didn’t get a clear answer as to why (not).

Any ideas why (not)?

Have you already selected another product from the alternative investments? It could be that all alternative investments are capped at 5% in total.

At least according to the website, it should be possible:

We offer the same investment strategies in Vested benefits and Vested benefits 2.

And what is Finpension’s (unclear) answer?

Using made up numbers here:

  • 100k in foundation 1
  • 100k in foundation 2
  • Allocated 3k (out of max 5%) to BTC in foundation 1
  • Wanted to do the same in foundation 2… but BTC wasn’t even visible

Unclear answer from Finpension “it’s not possible”. Yeah, no kidding.
