On that same note, what about EU vs Non-EU discrimination? my partner works in HR and she always brings up anecdotes on how her company gave up on a superbly qualified Non-EU candidate just because the mountain of paperwork to satisfy was too cumbersome/expensive.

On a side note, her company sends out email newsletters every quarter stating how many women they managed to hire in IT. Make of that what you will.

Also it fits well within the already existing anti-discrimination law. It’s just 2 additional words or so, not a whole new thing specially for gay people. Instead of just race and religion, now it also includes sexual orientation. All things that are hard or impossible to change, and where minorities (and thus possibilies of oppression) can exist.
