Gespa (Swiss Gambling Supervisory Authority) issued a blocking order for polymarket.com on 26.11.2024. Internet providers must block the domain via DNS (that sometimes takes a while). People who use a different DNS such as those from Google or Quad9 are not affected.

Interesting. I just created an IBKR account and there was a pop-up indicating they’ve also stepped into the market of predictive betting or whatever the term is. Is CH chasing something that’s ultimately going to be beyond their control

I think you can only offer betting / gambling services in CH if you have a license, which is really hard to get. So if company is offering services in CH without license, it gets blocked. Just the law being implemented. If people want to change it, its just an initiative away.

Does this list have any implications on whether one is allowed to still bet there or not? Like would a user get into trouble when using it (theoretically of course) or the legal issues are more from the providers side?
