ETF taxes in Geneva

Hi everyone! So, I started investing in ETFs September 2025 and I did not know that I had to declare it even if it is an accumulating ETF. What can I do right now? Wait to the taxes from 2026 and declare the positions that I bought in 2025 and 2026?

Thanks !

What didn‘t you declare? The entire position (why not)? The dividends (the tax office will correct)?

Did not declare anything (positions and dividends) because I have “impôt à la source”. Do I declare all the positions that I have in the next year?

Depending on when the fictive distribution date is (check ictax and your specific fund, it‘s likely the date is somewhere in the first half of the year), you may nit need to declare anything for 2025, as you started only in September.

but the amount of fortune is evaluated as of 31Dec?, And even if you are taxed at source for your salary, you can or could complete a TOU for other element that the salary. So ETF from 2025 to declare in early 2026, that why it’s good when your broker delivered the report to complete for the tax.

Worst case scenario, declare it next year and they will reopen your 2025 tax declaration for you to correct it.

Are you above the threshold for having to declare? (Those are Canton specific, depends on income/wealth/etc)

@MFlag I will recommend you to read the threads from this message.

It helped me a lot to improve my tax declaration skills
