Electronic vignette

and what’s that got to do with the price of cheese?

… you might be confounding with vinaigrette - a common misconception though no car paint damage has been reported so far. Just don’t put too much lemon juice, vinegar or salt in the vinaigrette before applying it to the car :relieved:

To sidetrack, is there somewhere I can pick up one of those CH stickers for free?

I’ve had my regular car vignette checked a few times in Valais/Wallis, usually during February, just after a highway exit.

They’re like 2.-. The time you’ll spend searching for a free one will cost you more in lost oppportunities than ordering one online.

Thanks!

No. If the sales volume of the sticker vignette is < 10%, it will be eliminated supposably:

GER only: Autobahnvignette - Das lästige Abkratzen hat ein Ende: Die E-Vignette ist Tatsache - News - SRF

Der Bundesrat kann die Klebevignette abschaffen, wenn ihr Anteil am Gesamtabsatz unter zehn Prozent – also circa eine Million Stück – fällt. So hat es das Parlament beschlossen.

The nice little Lidl discount is what stopped me going digital this year. Should I miss the discount next year I might switch.

That’s what I do every year. It’s a nobrainer, as I mostly shop there anyway and never buy stuff I dont need.

Is it only in December? I missed it this year :expressionless:

Yes, seems so. Also around December you can try buying cheaper ones on QoQa or DeinDeal - if you are fast and lucky enough.

Be careful, if you google “Electronic vignette”, it could be the first result…not sure if this is a scam:

Anyway it’s not the official site of the confederation and it’s more expensive

For the ones late to the party, not as cheap as before, but cheaper: Vignette autoroutière 2024 - chez Lidl Suisse

Is the time used with scratching the old vignette not worth 10chf? Ok we are frugal, fair enough.

Spend 70+ CHF to save 10.10 CHF, easy math

Year ago, for a few CHF, I bough “a kit” to do it. There is a “device” with which removing old vignette lasts about 15 seconds. It looks like on the photo below:

No special tool needed, for years I always used my Glaskeramikschaber / Glasschaber / Ceranfeldschaber / you get it, I think most households do own one in the kitchen

But it’s still a hassle and unnecessary work, so I’m super happy that they finally invented an E-Vignette and absolutely agree with @SwissTeslaBull

Agree and more than this it’s also - for neurotic people like me - annoying to have 1 (or more) stickers on your window. I like it clean, clear, no clutter. eVignette all the way!

Imagine a Swiss ticker, an Austrian one, some German environmental sticker, etc.

Oh come on, they’re CHF2 in Migros!

What bikes folks? I’ve never been checked for the vignette on my motorbike, got it under the saddle.

On topic, I somehow prefer having the vignette on the windshield and feel it makes things easier for the police too, I stick it behind the mirror so it’s not visible to me. I like this year’s blue colour too

Indeed it is, the benefit is that my car service is due around new year and the garage always removes the old vignette for me.

You’re two years late to the party my friend  Wolverine already guided me to Migros at the time. So for the sake of the follow up, and because people on the internet surely want to know, here’s the report: I BOUGHT a magnetic AND a sticker backup one because YOLO or something :face_savoring_food::wink:

Thanks for the vignette reminder though :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

At least this year, Aldi also offered a voucher for the 2026 e-vignette besides the sticker (for 24 CHF if I remember correctly). Et voilà :tada:

Good point but too late (for me). I just bought it online full price. - See where y’all’s “it’s just 2 CHF at Migros” is leading people to :ghost::smiling_face_with_sunglasses::innocent:
