I have an e-bike with a Bosch motor which stopped working. I am rather confident the issue is in the motor but not 100% sure: it could also be the controller.
Does anybody know of a bike repair shop in Zurich that would not demand half the value of the bike to stick the proprietary Bosch diagnostic tool into the bike and give me some certainty?
Disclaimer: none of my bikes has a motor and I am as new to the topic as you
IIUC Usually there is a dongle needed but there are probably versions in bittorrent et al that don’t. If I were you I would also google the service manual for your motor
You could go to any bosch licenced shop and ask if there is a chance that bosch could change the engine for free (they accepeted that for me years ago even if the bike was no more under garanty and was bought in another shop and has been driven with a unbridled chip) disclaimer : I dont recommend unbridling chips because of insurrence and legal issues.
You could also ask the shop for a quick opinion of what the issue could be (they often know what noise is what problem, what cause that or that malfunction, make a free diagnostic). If they wont, go to another shop and so forth. Maybe you can repair it yourself afterwards or have a good price.
