I wouldn’t be surprised with all the FUD floating around that people are just not that excited to get vaccinated in the first place…
In Zurich didn’t they run out of vaccination appointment slots as soon as they opened?
FUD as in “Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt”? I had to look that up.
Really? Not into conspiracies re this pandemic. I would get the shots now if I could, that is to say, I’ll get the shots soonish once available for us non-old non-risk people or as some would say sheeple.
I read somewhere else they could do 2000 shots a day at this big centre, but currently limited by availability which is much less, so it makes sense to limit the opening hours I suppose.
=over 20% “Übersterblichkeit”
(in a 10 month period, if the whole 2020 had been affected it would be approx 25%)
Thanks for that. I have Corona-denier friends who go on and on about the apparently non-existant “Übersterblichkeit”, meaning to them there is no pandemic & it’s all fake news.
Ah well, it only means they will now argue that many deaths are being registered as Corona deaths, even though the person died of something else.
That’s like all those people in the 80ies though, who died of pneumonia…and not AIDS of course.

One important note on the TUI stock issuance on Degiro, in case you haven’t seen it: You CAN (and should) sell unwanted / unneeded rights. I.e. sell all those you don’t need for participating in the new issuance. Otherwise, on Degiro they will be invalided without compensation once the issuance actually takes places (or a bit sooner I think, details are in the mail you got).
I was open to many theories before I saw this chart, but it’s hard to argue with 80k unexpected deaths. That’s more than the population of St Gallen. Even if they didn’t die for corona, they died because of it.
Meanwhile in Poland many restaurants have opened against the ban, hoping that if everybody revolts, the police won’t be able to fight them. There were inspections, where the customers started defending the restaurant owners. I know a family where both parents lost their jobs and they have to support their two children. The girl, who is usually a lefty, shouts: let us work, close the government, open the economy!
Thanks a lot!!!
Do you for which one shall I do that sell that you suggest? I have 280 shares, for which for every 29 they will give me 25 of the new. This means I have placed my order for 225 and I have remaining 19 shares which I dont need to participate in the offer.
here are some stats for CH. But they are too lazy to put them together (me too)
Here is the data for Switzerland for age group 65+:
Cumulative excess mortality, excess only is around 14% of expected deaths.
That would be my understanding as well. You have 19 “excess” rights (TUI AG BZR) that you don’t need and should sell.
The Neuchatel canton has published without much fanfare their vaccination plan…and I was really surprised to see that the last priority group (general population above 16yo) is scheduled to start already at mid-april!
Of course this should be taken with a grain of salt, it’s a best case scenario which probably assumes unlimited supply of the vaccine itself.
Still, this is a very welcome ray of hope.
Looking forward to it! Afaik it matches the federal timeline that was announced where the plan for the end of the vaccination (when they stop making it freely available to everyone) is in the summer (July I think? which matches the graphic)
In Lombardia, the richest and most hit by covid region in Italy (kind of the same population of Switzerland), for the second time the regional authorities suggested that the people living there should be given priority in the vaccination campaign because they produce more GDP than the other regions.
I know what I think, but I wonder what people here think of such proposal?
That’s an interesting remark. I never realized that Lombardy is so significant. 9.5 million people on 24’000 square km, so a smaller area than Switzerland.
I think the distribution of the vaccine should be left to market forces. You pay more, you get it sooner. All other attempts will end in abuse of the system, like it happened in Poland, where a group of celebrities somehow got vaccined ealier than the “national vaccine program” had planned.
(I don’t claim that my opinion is in any way based in logic. You asked for thoughts, so you get them
)
My gut reaction to this proposal (at least concerning Switzerland) is “You can f*** right off. Your oh-so-important economic interests were already overvalued (in comparison to actual lives) way too much.”
(Sort of) cynically speaking from recent experience, I don’t expect the Bundesrat to listen to anyone else than the economists though…
So in a market driven distribution the celebrities, usually richer, would have got the vaccine sooner as well, don’t you think?
And you’re left un-vaccined because you can’t afford it… looking like a nice cyberpunk dystopian future ![]()
What a horrible imagination of the future.
“The true measure of a democracy is the way it treats its weakest.”
That said it is happening at a macro level, look at which countries have doses.
Eh? Assuming that the celebrities are rich would mean they would have been all vaccinated earlier, if we left the market forces decide, no?
