CNG (methane) car in Switzerland - any of you?

Hello,

I am considering buying a CNG (methane) car, but I don’t find much information online.
Have you experience with it? What are the maintenance costs compared to standard petrol/diesel?

Thank you!

I’ve personally never seen methane filling stations (at least in TI) → better double check to be sure that you do not limit yourself too much with this choice

Basically same than a petrol car.
The company I am working for has its own fleet as CNG cars because it was much cheaper to operate (no long distance drive because we are local and not driving around the country). Actually I am surprised that not more people are doing this, since for short distance drive (what most people do), the life cycle costs are lower than a petrol car… For long distance drivers, diesel might be still better, not sure about it.

Company is now slowly switching to EV though where it is possible.

And that most cities will phase out gas in the near future. It will be by 2040 in my citiy approx., so beware it will not be forever and the resale value might be shitty.

Maybe bit offtopic LPG:

There are far more LPG stations in TI. Further, across the border in Italy, the price drops from 1.15 CHF/L to 0.71 CHF/L (if you find a station nearby).

But not that many LPG cars on the market.

Thank you all for your answers. It is very helpful!

Regarding this, where do you find this information? Is there a website or something?

working for municipal utilities. I would check with your local one, most already have a decarbonation plan.

EDIT: also federal strategy say to be free from fossil fuels by 2050.
