Hey mustachos, I want to cancel my Swiss Card Miles and More and digging in the forum, I only see people mentioning that you need to send a letter, from threads dating some years.
Is this in 2024, really the only way? Was anyone able to do it by phone, the app, or email recently?

The same with Swissquote and not unusual for traditional banks. In the time it took you to write this forum post, you would have sent your cancellation 
I am still sending important documents (as a cancellation request) through certified mail - in case there should be a discussion one day, you are definitely on the safe side.
Swisscards is pretty fast, I got a confirmation two business days after I send the letter and the whole process was done in roughly one week.
In case you have more expensive credit cards; they will call you quickly to check if everything is/was all right. I found it refreshing when they asked, how they could do better instead of trying to convince me, to keep the cards.
I resigned from Swissquote per the integrated mail/chat function from the website and it has worked perfectly fine… It’s 2024…
Perfect, if it worked! A written termination is just what Swissquote requires according to the FAQ - I’m still part of the old school that sticks to FAQ/help-articles/documentation
