Hi all,

I would like to invest a monthly amount in BTC and then withdraw it to my wallet.

Is Relai still the play for a monthly buy with CHF?

Thank you

Yep. You can buy directly into your wallet.

I use Kraken as well, because of easy bank access (LI IBAN) and easy payout to a Swiss bank.

I’ve been using Relai since March 2025 thanks to @stojano. I have a weekly plan and a monthly plan (1x 100 CHF at 0% fees). They are really reactive and helpful if you need them. The application is very easy to use. I recommend it. I don’t mind the fees, even if they’re cheaper elsewhere, like Kraken for example.

Just started the monthly buy with Relai. Set it and forget it.

I have to admit that I have been proven wrong in my initial understanding of Bitcoin. I think I first learned about it in 2014 when I was a poor student and only got “free btc” from websites like the ones below.

I always sold though and considered Bitcoin largely a ponzi scheme that was due to collapse so I made my 25-50 euros when I could.

I started to read some very interesting reflections about Bitcoin and its connection with the Austrian school of economics and this has changed my view, I understand now.

Any tips from the veterans that actually bought way back and held? What would you do if you were starting now?

From who bought but did’t hold… well. My main points:

  1. Avoid anytype of shitcoinery (everything beside BTC)
  2. Get off exchanges. Best buy from Relai directly to hardware wallet.
  3. Don’t trade or time the market. Plan for 5+ years.

I actually have a Ledger Nano S but saw that it was going to be discontinued
My guess is that it doesn’t have the size to hold all the different new shitcoins but if I plan to hold only bitcoin it should work? I am a bit surprised that something that was supposed to be long term storage is being “discontinued”.

Any hardware wallet recommendations?

Will follow the advice, thank you!

Take an old laptop (like a used Thinkpad from Ricardo for ~100 CHF), remove/disable wireless, bluetooth, and disk. Boot Tails from a USB stick (read-only), start included Electrum. Follow the guide to create a watch-only wallet on the main workstation. Pass transactions on a second USB stick for signing on the laptop (or use QR codes and webcams). As long as you have the seed phrase, you can recreate such a setup anytime and anywhere.

I suppose, what’s discontinued is the support in ledger live. Ledger live is anyway sh!t. But you can use it with sparrow wallet. There you can sign the message which is needed in process of payout directly to your wallet in Relai.

I’m very happy with Jade + Sparrow + Knots (as node).

The crucial function of the hardware wallet (be it a dedicated device or just an offline laptop) is allowing you to verify the details of the transaction before you sign it.

The threat is a compromised workstation that seems to produce a desired transaction but actually replaces the destination, amount, or fee.

It’s not easy for a human to check each letter of a 60+ character string, especially on a small, flickering, scrolling text screen. Only checking the first and last couple of letters is not safe!

A good offline wallet will show you the destination addresses, indicate graphically (using colors) which are your own, and warn you if anything about the transaction is odd (no change to own address, fee too large, etc.)

When evaluating products, focus on this aspect. Ask how you could reliably spot a tampered transaction on the device itself.

I buy my crypto via Relai. 100.- per month are comission free and also the fee’s are very low (you can use a referral link to reduce the fees 0.5%). It’s a swiss company. Relai also have a hot wallet but it is possible to transfer the coins on a cold wallet. I always would buy the coins and not an etf.

Seems to be 1.0% (0.9% with referal) according to the FAQ on their website. Kraken Pro has a maximum of 0.25% maker and 0.40% taker fees.

I want to add that I find Kraken’s new website difficult to navigate and their promoted “instant buy/sell” feature scammy (hidden spreads and fees like at a bank).

Sorry I wrote it incorrect. One single payment (up to 100.- per month is zero fees. I’ve you go above this amount it is 0.9% with the referral. I think it is still a good deal for a swiss company. I never used kraken but the fee’s looks great for cryptos. For me Relai is the best deal because I don’t invest more than 100.- per month

Hello everyone,
I’m looking for some advice regarding Bitcoin positioning. I’m trying to decide between three main options, and I’d love to hear your thoughts and experiences.
What do you guys prioritize for Bitcoin exposure:

  • Revolut
  • SwissBorg
  • Interactive Brokers
I’m interested in understanding the pros and cons of each from a Mustachian perspective (fees, security, accessibility, long-term holding suitability, etc.).
    Thanks for your input

To me, all of these are way to expensive for pure crypto.
IB, I would only consider for BTC ETF or similar, but no direct crypto investment.

For me Kraken hits the right balance between cheap and somewhat trustworthy (in the crypto world always a question mark). I do not trust the likes of Binance, etc.

[EDIT]
Also there was a recent thread on this as well

I’d also suggest using Kraken along with a cold wallet for cryptocurrencies, and IBKR for other investments. In my experience, it’s the most cost-effective and straightforward way to handle CHF transactions.

Tho make sure you have a really good recovery strategy. You should have a tried and tested way to make sure your heirs get access to it.

I would:

Kraken is cheaper. Relai, on the other hand, is extremely easy to set up, including auto-invest.

Or just do both
I am using Kraken for larger or non-BTC transactions and Relai for the free CHF 100.- autoinvest
