Brooker health insurance bad experience

Hello,

I am a foreign citizen living in Switzerland since 2020 with a B permit.

I only had aweful experiences with brookers selling me health insurances, specifically during September / November where they are a bit like bees around the hive during spring.

I have not an issue on itself with brookers but those last 4 years my experiences has been aweful, and I changed from Brooker to brooker.

Last year I was living in VS and told the Brooker specifically that I was planning to move to BL, so that I wanted an insurance that was at the lowest price for both cantons. I end up paying a very cheap amount in VS but in BL I ended up paying 420 per month instead of 350.

Is there a way how to find a good Brooker that understand my needs and makes a good job ?

As much as I see they often have better prices that if I would go directly purchasing the contract from the health insurance directly. Is there any way how to get better prices without passing by the brookers ?

Thank you for your feedback and sorry if this subject has been reviewed before.

Unless you’re buying supplemental, brokers are useless. (And if you’re having a supplemental not sure you want to change every year, if you get rejected you’ll probably have to disclose it and risk not being able to get coverage)

The official website (priminfo) should have all the data you need to compare yourself for the basic insurance.

Also:

This should not happen with basic health insurance. Prices are set by region for a given product (beware that region =/= canton, there can be more than one in a given canton) and are not subject to negociation. The coverage is the same with all policies (administrative treatment can varry between providers, deductible can be set at different levels and specific limitations can apply (use of family doctor, health network, telemedicine, …)).

Also be aware that coverage has increased with time. The current coverage of the basic insurance is pretty good. The need for a supplemental insurance should be assessed on an individual basis, after having checked the situation in terms of drugs/treatments covered and what hospitals actually provide nowadays.
