worked fine at Migros for me yesterday.
Amex never worked @Landi for me.
I had issues paying at Migros 2 weeks ago but it works again… No clue why lol
That’s usually online merchants based abroad, but selling in CHF for the CH market (e.g., plane tickets, streaming platforms, some merchants dispatching from abroad, etc.).
This is recently one that is annoying me a lot. As of October, it appears Swisscard has started to aggressively enforce this, e.g. starting October charges in CHF from the like of Netflix, Spotify, Zalando, etc. have incurred the 2.5% fee. Was not the case in previous months
Purchases from Apple (Apple One subscription) and Microsoft (game purchase on Xbox Store) haven’t incurred any fees last month.
any chance to ask for this reversal of transaction fees?
I got charged for my zalando order.
if not then which card is not charging this fees ?
Neon, Yuh, Revolut, Alpian, Radicant etc.
so even the certo cards charge fees?
took me 60 seconds to google
thanks for this and I already know this.
the question is about getting a transaction charge for payments made in CHF for the likes of Zalando, netflix etc?
for swisscard this started appearing from last month before it was free so I am not sure about certo cards
They do the same, according to this post.
This was also a topic on SRF Kassensturz. There it was justified with more fraud abroad. It is difficult to judge from the outside whether this is really true. I think the justification is a pure excuse - at the end of the day, good money is certainly being made from the fees.
How long does it take for your monthly invoice from Swisscard to be booked? I have already paid, but according to the app the amount is still outstanding. Normally, this doesn’t bother me and, if necessary, I simply wait for the first reminder and then contact support.
But with a credit card, it worries me.
- 19.11.2024: Invoice over CHF ~800
- 20.11.2024: Invoice arrives via eBill
- 21.11.2024: Invoice is paid via eBill*
- 09.12.2024: Invoice is still unpaid according to the Swisscard app
- 11.12.2024: (Payable until)
Check the list of transactions in the app and you should see your payment. The reminder is also always showing for me even if I ve already paid and the payment is visible in the app.
You are right! - Wow, that really is a bad user experience design.
I have a bad experience about that.
Before doing the transaction, i checked this page Cours des devises - Banque Migros But be careful, this IS NOT the exchange rate apply. This is very misleading.
I did a transaction in september, the VISA rate was for this day 1 EUR = 0.947 CHF, Cumulus rate was 1 EUR = 0.978. I lost something like 20 CHF on a 500 eur transaction.
This 2.5% transaction fee is also now charged for EasyJet payments with Amex in CHF.
What I do not understand in this is, why it appears that Swisscard is applying this rule quite inconsistently across their card portfolio, even though as per the T&C’s it is the same.
For example, I have now seen the 2.5% charged on cashback cards for Netflix, Spotify and Zalando, but in contrast on the Miles & More cards for Apple it’s not added, even though Apple is also listed with a non-Swiss address.
Maybe Spotify, Netflix etc have multiple payment providers depending on when you created your account or when you deposit your card.
Just got charged a 2.5% fee for a Swisscard AMEX purchase in CHF…
Ordered some clothes from zalando.CH in CHF. I noticed later in the month that my credit card statement added a 2.5% fee. When I researched I saw that Swisscard add this sometimes for companies registered outside Switzerland even if its all handled in CH with CHF.
Feels very cheeky to me - doesn’t give you a warning anywhere.
And when I looked to complain to Swisscard I saw there is no online contact form and you either have to call which they charge CHF1.90 for or send a letter!
Practices like this definitely move them down in my book. So be careful where you use this card if you are trying to be a mustachian…
Yeah, its annoying. But if you scroll 2 messages up, you’ll see that you’re not the only one
