All about Revolut [2025]

I did not receive but I also don’t care because I use Revolut as a wallet and not as a bank account anyways.

There are plenty of free Swiss bank accounts with local offices

You will not (yet) receive your own Swiss IBAN, this is still a marketing lie.

thanks I have read your article, do you think it’s OK I do nothing? I don’t understand why Revolut keeps sending me these reminder Emails and mentions " Time is running out"

I have no idea. But counter question: Why don’t you want to do anything? It’s somehow two clicks in the Revolut app or something. I don’t remember having to do anything special. At some point I opened the Revolut app, clicked away an annoying pop-up and bang, done.

He’ll have to provide his AHV number (if he wasn’t requested to do so when he did open the account).
And remember to use the new coordinates when funding the account.
That’s basically it.
I think people will be forced to migrate within few months, so I did it ‘spontaneously’ :smiling_face_with_sunglasses: after a couple of reminders…

Thank you. I prefer simplicity, and when companies ask for additional information, I tend to hesitate. If I have to provide my AHV number, I’m unsure about the implications. Besides, I have less than 100 CHF in Revolut.

I just ignored it as long as I could but updated when I had to deposit more cash. The old IBAN had already been removed from my UBS list somehow.

I guess you can risk the old IBAN still working for a while, but one day it will stop working and you’ll have a hassle trying to recover the money you sent.

My Revolut’s Swiss IBAN still sits with “Credit Suisse AG”

Hi,
Did you hear about Revolut invest?
I just discovered this in the app and wanted to know if it could be interesting or not at all, or dangerous..
You can invest on >5000 stocks/ETF for such low fees it looks very interesting (is there a but..?).
No custody fees if you use investment plan, then 0.25% or minimum 1chf.
Regarding your sub at Revolut, if you don’t use the plan you can invest monthly:

  • Standard: 1 trade
  • Plus: 3 trades
  • Premium: 5 trades
  • Metal and Ultra: 10 trades

No fees for FX (Revolut rate, almost the same as XE)
All stocks are completely ours and it’s this Revolut Lithuanian bank that take care of them with all UE protections.
Check here the conditions and everything: Invest | Revolut Switzerland

If you use free account in Revolut you are “limited” to convert up to 1250chf /month but for some it’s already enough

For me it’s like Neon invest and co but far cheaper and very good opportunity for small/limited investors. They have WEBN which I would easily set a plan with.

Please let me know what you think.

Thank you.

Well, for me the easy test of those investment features in Fintech apps is: can you transfer out your shares? If you can’t, it’s a toy, not a broker.

I can read this (https://help.revolut.com/en-CH/help/wealth/stocks/trading-stocks/trading-fees/what-fees-will-i-be-charged-for-my-trading/):

  • Instrument transfers: transfers from your investment account to a third-party platform are subject to a fee of $35 per position transferred. For more information on instrument transfers, visit this FAQ

So it seems quite ok. But when you click on the link they talk more about transferring into your Rev account but maybe it works the same for both ways.. I’m not an expert about what’s in the link sorry..

Well, it passes the first smell test, although the description of the share transfer process sounds more like for US. The next question is: who is the custodian of securities?

Investitions-Dienstleistungen werden von Revolut Securities UAB (305799582) bereitgestellt – einer litauischen Investitionsfirma, die in der Schweiz von Revolut (Switzerland) AG repräsentiert wird.

(It doesn’t mean that they are the custodian, though).

Maybe here?

For me, this question doesn’t even arise because I would never think of making investments with a company that doesn’t offer proper support. I’ve already had my (negative) experiences with Revolut, and that was enough for me. First and Seconds Level Support is just a bot there.

From a fee perspective, however, the offer may be good.

I read also some stories about frozen account or so, but honestly if you don’t do prohibited or weird things with your money there is no reason something will happen. Customer from the beginning, I’ve never had any issue nor people around me. Plus now it’s a real bank. But I understand that people might be “afraid”.

Honestly I’m not really more confident with the support of IBKR as it is abroad anyway and it might be complicated if something bad happen.

I would love to use a swiss broker but fees for small investments are just too high.

Just to have an overview, if I set 1250chf /month for 16yrs, as of today the fees (bying+selling) should be:

IB+VT: 2450.-
Saxo+VT: 5691.-
Neon+FWRA: 8217.-
Revo+WEBN: 2475.-

Check out Saxo.

Two friends of mine had their accounts frozen - no shady business. Reddit is also fun to read, where people send their salaries to Revolut and support is not availabe and not reachable. Must be fun, not being able to pay the rent.

Revolut has the highest money laundring cases in the UK, which is probably why Revolut acts like they are acting. But I‘m glad, if it works out for you - for me, it is not an option anymore.

Happy to pay some CHF, to have Swiss juristication and someone available in CH.

IBKR is at least over 50y old and has billions of AuM - they are focused on insitutional clients. If I trust someone, then definitely IBRK over Revolut.

Revolut is a clown show. I never have more than a few hundred CHF at a time and that’s constantly being spent down.

Good luck to anyone who trusts their life savings to them.

I understand your position, and sorry for your friends.
Well as Revo has no personnal CH IBAN I wouldn’t even think to send my salary there, it’s normally well known people shouldn’t.
I don’t like either the bad reputation about Revolut and I’m a bit disappointed because it seems they have a very good offer and I would like to trust them.
Saxo would be ok, even I also read some weird moves in the past (but probably nothing compared to Revolut). But then that means to pay 200.- per y in fees just for that and that annoys me
