Sure? I still have LT and the local one is just PostFinance.
I received an email this week
Get your personal Swiss IBAN
Make your banking experience even smoother with a Swiss IBAN
Get my Swiss IBAN
Maybe I have it too, but didn’t understand it. My CH IBAN ends in the number “070”. If you have different ones, then I have unfortunately spread fake news… Maybe because the “Avoid transfer rejection” caught me off guard.
I have the same IBAN number since 2023, one from Credit Suisse, which requires a reference number to top up money. As the new IBAN is to come from Postfinance (according to Inside-IT) it could be that you already have a personal IBAN — but I have no idea.
Nothing new in my Revolut account. For CHF top ups still the Credit Suisse account (I thought CS no longer existed…) and a EUR account with a GB… IBAN number.
The account switched to postfinance last month for me, but AFAICT still the same IBAN as on credit suisse and I still need the beneficiary/message (and I didn’t receive anything about new IBANs)
Some have it, some don’t. Those who don’t have it yet (including me) just need to wait. They do a rolling introduction, see Revolut statement regarding Swiss IBAN.
what would be the main advantage to have a CH IBAN?
I also have the CreditSuisse IBAN myself.
To receive your salary, for example.
If they are registered as a Swiss bank and subject to esusuisse deposit guarantee, that is a big advantage. Especially since they seem to have been probing into fixed term deposits and similar things. Who knows, maybe they want to get into the game of collecting deposits and giving credits, like Cembra.
According to screenshots on Reddit, the new IBAN is not in your own name. If this is true, I don’t understand the marketing. Because then nothing really changes. You still have to provide a reference when making a deposit. From that point of view, I wouldn’t use it as a bank alternative.
But I don’t have the new IBAN yet, so I can’t judge that.
I can confirm, this is what I noticed even though they kept calling it a “personal Swiss IBAN”. The IBAN is not in my name and a reference is still needed.
Finews asked them about the confusion:
Lol, what on earth is a
«interim step» toward a fully-fledged Swiss IBAN that could, for example, be used for salary transfers within Switzerland.
Would it not have been possible to wait with the change until they are further than this useless ‘interim step’?
Just got the message in the app that my Swiss IBAN is available.
It is also stated that I should setup it (by providing my AHV number) “to avoid service interruptions…”
Has anyone experienced that (I mean: not updating the details and being ‘interrupted’ ? )
I guess this is Revolut becoming a proper bank in Switzerland and needing KYC elements to do so. Not sure anymore, but I thinkg AHV number has to be given while opening a brick and mortar bank as well.
Also for foreign banks, AHV is the ITIN and this is required for data sharing with tax authorities.
Yeah I think so.
From what I see in the app, I’m currently a client of ‘Revolut Ltd.’, and by providing the requested information, I will automatically be transferred to ‘Revolut Bank UAB’. I’m not particularly impressed with how they are handling this transfer—it doesn’t seem very transparent…
When I click on the button, it takes me to a page where I can review the privacy notice for Swiss customers of ‘Revolut Bank UAB’ (which I am not… yet).
Is anyone here still linked to ‘Revolut Ltd.’? Any pros/cons to switching? Any changes in terms and conditions (for the better or worse) ?
Their ultimate goal seems to be to transfer all Swiss customers to the new entity over time, anyway…
[edit] link to Revolut faqs
Sure, but they originally started as a prepaid card rather than a bank. I’d be curious to know if it’s still possible to retain that status for those who aren’t interested in the (alleged) benefits of a full banking package (such as receiving salary payments, etc.).
This year, I have received Emails from Revolut which I have ignored till now:
Update your IBAN as soon as possible
