Aging Population

There are fundamental changes happening at a snail’s pace. Yet it will change the way we live, work and retire.

Did you know that 50% of the children born in 2017 in Western Europe will live to a 100 years? That every 10 years an old person survives, he or she will get a bonus of 3-4 additional years? This current reduction of old age mortality represents an ROI of 30-40%.

I won’t go into details but I feel this has a fundamental impact of any advice we should give our children and how we should plan our own longevity. The three-phased approach (education - work - retirement) may have just been replaced by a multi-phased life approach. Plus the money side of things is quite a challenge.

On my own blog I go a bit more into details and even if it is in German you will find links pointing to English-speaking resources there: http://schweizer.pm/2017/wenn-ein-menschenleben-100-jahre-zaehlt/
