3B with insurance company

Hi, my first post here. Anyone know Balance Invest 3b with Allianz? they offered me a monthly payment of 150 chf, with part invested in pictet-swiss equities ( i can choose the part invested- the agent advised me 60% guaranteed-40% invested).

i am just asking for confirmation cause a friend of mine told me he recently got out of it after a couple of years and lost around 6k. but i would like other opinions

Well, what do you want to achieve?

  • Life insurance? Cheaper to have a separate one.
  • Investment? Tons of possibilities.
  • Afraid to invest by yourself? Robo advisors and assets management services.

i dont care about lif insurance.
the agent gave me a trend of possible outcomes and it seems encouraging but knowing the hidden fees

It is an insurance: you never know, if you need it.
But with a premium of CHF 150 p.M. the insured contribution is rather low - so I my opinion you should not proceed with it or increase the premium.

If you want to insure an event with a better cost/earning ratio, then death risk policy could be something (depending on your personal situation and depending on other factors as liabilities etc.).

What I can tell: read the 3b contract. Some insurance companies do not continue to contribute the invalidity premium in case a certain level of invalidity is not reached - for a well known insurance one must be 70% invalid in order to benefit from the continuous investments by the insurance company.

In my opinion, such a solution makes only sense if you want to amortize the mortgage but cannot amortize indirectly the exceeding amount of CHF 14‘112. Then 3b is a nice option.

They bullshit you; that’s how they earn the living.

i am just focusing on investment, given that i dont have a family and i am young (around 30). i dont have a mortgage either. i was told that its better to avoid insurances in this case

my friend had the same product but decided to stop it after 4 years and preferred to lose around 6k instead of waiting until retirement.

Find a suitable 3a third pillar with lower fees.
You will find plenty of other threads on the subjects.

sorry but i am ignorant. the investment part is invested in pictet-ch swiss equities, which the insurance company offers. i saw the performance and it is not bad. the agent kept telling about the positive trend of the fund

Hello,

It would appear that you are not sufficiently educated financially. This is not a concern and is understandable, as a large part of the Swiss population is not sufficiently educated on this subject.

I advise you not to listen to this “financial advisor” who is not a financial advisor, but a salesman of an insurance product whose primary aim is to guarantee him a commission. He does not advise you for your needs, but for his own first and foremost.

That said, you should read articles/blogs on finance. Great news, founder of this forum has a blog dedicated to this subject, aimed for neophytes. You should read through all his articles or buy his book to educate yourself, in a very basic way, on the subject of personal financial investment.

As far as 3b products are concerned, unless you live in Geneva, and even then, there’s absolutely nothing positive about them, whatever investment fund you use (Pictet or other). The vast majority of your investments will be eaten up by the product’s commissions, management fees, other hidden costs and the commission paid to the salesman who presents himself as a “financial advisor”.

Have a nice evening.

PS: this product sucks, don’t sign (personal opinion).

thanks for taking your time to answer

Don’t do it! Always split investment from insurance solutions!

This products has a terrible fee structure and most likely you will lose money in absolute terms or at least in relative terms as other investments would be more beneficial. I described my ordeal here.

The one thing everyone agrees on around here is never, ever, EVER sign up any sort of 3-something contract with an insurance agency.

Even in Geneva with the tax deduction from your revenu, there is no great product.

I’ve searched online but couldn’t find anything.

I’ve emailed Viac support in September 2023 and Darius Ramstein (Viac’s Product Owner) replied :

We’re not planning on launching such a product.
We will however launch VIAC Invest in roughly one year. Then, you’ll be able to invest into cost-efficient index funds outside of the pillar 3a or vested benefits.
