If you actually did donate, then go ahead - nothing wrong with that.
But many people are claiming this deduction without a matching donation, which is morally repugnant.

Do you find this morally repugnant because the charities don’t get their share or because the tax office doesn’t get their share?
Well…for this big amount of money, I would have urgently contacted a very good tax specialist (and possibly expensive) to help me out find the best solution for me. You can search on forums and ask people and they will genuinely try to help, but one very good specialist can make a lot of difference in the income you will get and will walk you through all the possibilities, including gifts, expenses, moving to other cantons, trying to invest them in tax incentive businesses maybe…
