Swiss brokers [2026]

One exception is trading commissions for ETFs and mutual funds of premium partners (ETF Leaders) for larger trades as the commission is capped at CHF 9 (+ exchange fees) for those funds. The cut-off is roughly at 15k for ETFs (with the Classic tier at Saxo).

For most people, Saxo is clearly the better choice, though - at least with regards to fees.

Yes, apparantly I am now an APEX customer at Swissquote Switzerland. Not sure, but looks like this is quite new and in the process of being rolled out. Gives you not only a special mail and phone number (like they used to have in the past for high value customers), but also an actual relationsship manager.

Web search quotes an account value of €5M, presumably for their foreign branches. I wonder if it’s the same ballpark for Switzerland.

My active participation here has reduced to basically sharing my Net Worth update every year, so, yeah, no secrets there.

I’m fluctuating between 2 and 3 Million CHF with Swissquote. Actually rather reduced my portfolio with them this year, so not clear what triggered the APEX classification (and also why I believe this is something new they are rolling out).

Might also have been triggered by income, as SQ is my main bank since late 2025 where my salary is arriving?

Would need more users and datapoints to figure this one out :man_shrugging:

I am not an apex client for SQ but I was receiving the quarterly magazine which I found quite insightful … looks like they discontinued it now

Wondering if it’s just me or it’s really stopped

I used to get the magazine.

I still get it now but I have the metal card and this is an advertised benefit of having the card.

guessing if I canceled the card, the magazine would likely stop arriving.

I just realized I haven’t received it for some time either. it was quite a nice magazine, i used to justify myself that with it I got back part of the high custody costs of SQ…

Would you say you’re making full use of the benefits offered by the Metal card?

Maybe they stopped it for basic accounts and only send it for people with Metal cards or other higher tier investment accounts

I liked the magazine too.

I got the metal card free for one year having transferred in shares from another (overseas) broker.

On motivation for this was consolidation and also now with eAuszug for my year end tax declaration to make the process more seamless.

now at CHF 39 per month, it is very marginal as to if it is worth it. You get 3 airport lounge visits, the magazine, 1% cash back with Half in gold and half in trading credits (valid for 3 months) and a free tax statement.

also you get to spend other currencies at a zero FX fee (I’d normally use Alpian at 25bps) when using the metal card..

plus travel insurance.

I’d consider giving up my Amex platinum and use SQ metal.

Summary is that it is a marginal call.

Thanks! I saw that the Gold cashback is capped at 25/month, while currency conversion is limited to 5k/month.

This setup actually seems quite interesting if the goal is to consolidate things and use SQ as the main bank account. That said, diversification becomes the question once again. Did you also attempt to those VIP events ?

I’ve not seen or been invited to any VIP events.

I will be encashing some pillar 2 and 3 accounts in the next 12-18 months.. all will be going to saxo for further investment since I’m not prepared to pay SQ further custody fees excess 1M balances.. nowadays even CHF 200 per annum is too much.

Also can get 1% cash back with CS Amex cash back card (and payable in cash not trading credits) so am minded to cancel the SQ metal card..

If they SQ were going to entice me with some extras maybe I’d divert my future investments to them but for now, Saxo have stolen a march.

I don’t know if the people from SQ are reading this forum… But I just received yesterday the last SQ magazine!

One other benefit is the zero FX load on card spending. I’ve recently received some dividends in USD so as long as I have zero balance in euro and CHF, my card spending essentially uses up the usd balance at zero mark up so this is optimal.

Re the magazine, given there are quite a few adverts for Swiss luxury items, I expect these advertisers prefer a wider circulation than a narrow one?

I noticed that maybe I had to subscribe to magazine. It seems by default it’s switched off now. I did it today, so maybe something happens

Do you get them in English, BTW? Mine switched to German some years ago, and the support said the English versions was discontinued, but I’m not sure I trust them…

My English language version arrived last week..

My magazine also arrived. Maybe there was an issue which has been fixed. I like these magazines
