Hi everyone,

After doing a deep dive into Euro savings options, I have been comparing short-term yields. Currently, **CIC Bank offers a 2.45% interest rate** for quarterly deposits. However, I recently came across the **Raisin** platform, which grants access to other EU banks offering more attractive rates **above 3% for a 12-month deposit**.

While I know the EU Deposit Guarantee Scheme protects up to €100,000 per depositor/bank, I would highly value your insights:

- **Does anyone have hands-on experience using the Raisin platform?** How smooth is the process?
- **Are there any specific banks within the platform that you would recommend avoiding** (e.g., due to complex withholding tax processes or bureaucracy)?

Thank you in advance for sharing your views and experiences!

Best regards,

In which currency are these interest rates ?
If they are in Euro, you need to take into account 2026 inflation to be able to compare them with CHF interest.

We are talking about EUR. My question is not related if it’s a good return vs. CHF interest, I am interested to know if people around here have used this platform.

Just to clarify: There is no EU Deposit Guarantee Scheme. There is simply an EU stipulation that banks must participate in a depositor protection scheme with a guarantee of that size (more or less). The depositor protection schemes are national.

I tried it out some years ago. On the whole, it worked fine, and I like the idea and convenience. I suppose I trust it as much as any established foreign fintech.

Which banks you choose for your portfolio is a different question, and depends on your risk tolerance. In every case, it’s worth taking a look at a bank’s credit ratings.

But if at the end your are covered by the country where that bank lies, the risk from bank to bank is the same no?

No. Bank depositor protection schemes are not some sort of guarantee or insurance. The process is long, and there is no way to know for sure how much you will get back. It depends on how different kinds of account balances are classified, what the maximum total compensation for all accounts combined is, and other factors. Getting any amount of money back is the “good-case” scenario. Getting all your money back is the absolute best-case scenario.

A bank account is a loan agreement between you and a bank, so you will want to check the borrower’s credit.
