Actually, when you get this PDF report, how do you use it? Do you just check a box somewhere that there is a report or do you still need to enter some number somewhere (after all it is needed to calculate your prepayment). or does after uploading, the software pulls out the numbers an inputs it for you?
One uploads the PDF report into the tax declaration software. After a minute it shows an overview and one gets the option to declare negative balances as debt, to update the data from ictax, to move some securites to DA-1 and RUS, to add custody fees to the Abzüge. After confirming, one line gets added to the list of positions with all the totals, and I don’t think it’s editable. DA-1 gets filled too and a few other places. There is a button to reenter the eTax report and modify the choices or update the data again at any time. I think the PDF is also submitted as Belege part of the declaration.
I would never trust a third party with this kind of data, sorry.
Yes, I’d rather not have my financial details with third party with large online presence which has the potential to be hacked and give them read access to my life savings. I’d be interested if the provided some tool you could run on your own.
I am quite annoyed that uploading a pdf or JSON file with the transactions is not possible.
From ibkr reports it would be easily created
What are you trying to solve? I think you can always attach a summary pdf from IB, and keep one line in the wealth declaration (at least I know people who have been doing that for a while).
It will be more work for them (e.g. if they want to cross check with ictax, etc.), but I don’t think they’d reject it (at least haven’t heard of that happening).
(Though you’d be costing other taxpayers more money
due to the extra manual work)
I heard horror stories from some people. Which canton accepted the single line?
I mostly familiar with ZH ![]()
(that said, I personally input the detailed data)
GL also accepts the one liner, or at least for me they did the last few years.
You can do it in Geneva.
I had no feedback from the tax office so far.
My canton accepted § a single line last years too (a canton not mentioned above yet).
Asking your question differently - Which canton didn’t? Was the “horror” that these people had to enter each position/trade individually (which could be a horror, don’t get me wrong), or were the stories even worse?
§ touch wood, this year it seems held up, apparently due to the Wertschriftenverzeichnis, but don’t know what the exact issue is.
Just saw on reddit that there’s a new service that generates a Swiss eTax document for a IBKR account. It’s a third-party service to be clear, so you’d have to trust them with your data.
It costs CHF 50 (and CHF 30 when pre-ordering until the end of the year). Not for me, but maybe for those with lots of transactions.
Keep up! We already discussed it here ![]()

@Dr.PI please delete or lock or whatever.
From datalevel regarding accumulating etfs:
„ Bei der Erstellung eines Steuerauszuges gleichen wir die Wertpapiere und deren Ertrags-Events mit der jeweils aktuellsten Kursliste der eidgenössischen Steuerverwaltung (ESTV) ab. Als Teil dieses Prozesses werden steuerlich relevante Thesaurierungen dazu generiert, d.h. entsprechend ausgewiesen auf dem Auszug.
Unser Datenzugriff beschränkt sich auf das Lesen der Daten, korrekt.
„
I will try and let you know
I’d be interested to know what can be configured after giving Administrator access, can you explicitly restrict to only report viewing without giving access to broader customer data etc?
I will try out their service this year. After adding their administrator account you can define roles, which would be reporting. I’m afraid for reporting correctly to the tax authorities they need some personal details. They adhere to the data protection laws of Switzerland.
They have a certificate to sign the report and it is accepted in electronic form from all Kantons in their electronic declaration solution.
I asked them about the electronic import in which Kantons and what would happen to equities that are not in the ICTax list, this is the answer:
Lieber Gruss
Dein datalevel Team
So DA-1 is done, stocks not in the list are included with the values from Interactive Brokers and the resulting electronic document can be scanned in all Kantons.
Clever idea, CHF 30 just to run a program and a lot of potential clients (almost all clients of IB from SwitzerlandI’d say). I save 16 hours of work and a big source of error (myself) for that money, great!
I’ll let you know about the progress.
While writing this I already got an e-mail that the administrator link worked.
Entering to IBKR there seems to be no way to define the user rights. I suppose it is reporting by default or that it may take a day or two to be able to do so.
They will produce the report and then send a link to pay for and download it.
As they charge after creating you keep getting those links until you delete the administrator, what you can do anytime. If it is active in the first quarter the report will be produced.
In the help section of IBKR the page for administrators looks like this:
Now in my account the “settings” symbol is missing. Probably this takes a few days. Anybody has experience with that?
Anyhow, in another help page they say a newly created administrator is limited to reporting anyhow.
Also I do not have defined any user roles. Maybe that is needed to be able to configure the administrators further. No need for it if it is only reporting like in my case…
I understand the admin account cannot be customized in rights. I find Admin a „strong“ word for this as it only gives read only rights for reports.
. Ibkr has the option to create user roles which can be customized - for some reason (probably setup complexity) - data level chose not to use that concept.
I find it reasonably save and datalevel seems trustworthy (looking at certifications, their com and background). And the value is very high for me.
