Neon-bank fee free worldwide

Didn’t order a new card and it seems, it was automatically initiated.
But I am surprised in a positive way:

Translation:

Hi xerox,

Since your current neon card is about to expire, we have ordered a new card for you free of charge. You will receive it within the next 5–7 working days. This way we ensure that you get the card in time before it expires and can continue using it without interruption.

The new card is a debit Mastercard. It is valid for 4 years and functionally identical to the old prepaid card, but it has higher acceptance than before (e.g., at gas stations). You can continue to use your current card until its expiration date. The conditions of your neon plus plan are not affected by the card change and remain unchanged.

Unfortunately, it will be a new card with a new number and it could be the case, that I will have trouble with setting it as default payment card with some services (e.g. streaming sites abroad etc.).

This could be an option to check for other alternatives e.g. Revolut. But the probability is high, that I will simply stay with neon since it is a Swiss company.

Apparently, “what pension fundation are you working with?” isn’t a frenquently asked question.

I had to dig a bit:

Your pillar 3a is secure thanks to strong partners

Your money is held with the simply3a pension foundation and managed by the private bank Lienhardt & Partner. It is invested in Swisscanto funds and protected as special assets – so your 3a balance remains secure even in the event of bankruptcy.

Never heard of simply3a, I’ll gladly take whatever info you guys/gals might have on them.

So, no more UBS TWINT from today??

Do you have any more context?

TWINT says they don’t take debit or prepaid Mastercard anymore so I can’t register my neon card for them… Am I doing anything wrong?

I don’t want to fall back on TWINT prepaid :frowning:

If they changed it, they haven’t updated the website https://www.ubs.com/ch/fr/help/twint/limits.html (still mentions prepaid)

UBS TWINT does not allow adding my neon card now…

Twint is really the weakest part of the Neon offering for me. Even before it was bad with very low ceilings and no way to adjust them. I use Twint from another bank account because of this.

You need to use twint prepaid app and select neon bank

Yeah that’s where I didn’t want to go as it abstracts yet another layer from our bank account.
