You should think of getting first the swiss cititenship, then marry her. Otherwise she won’t be eligible for “Erleichterter Einbürgerung”.
Unless she’s Swiss and then he can apply to the simplified procedure!

I lied my way during recruitment saying that I could speak very good German - the ticinesi guy recruiter had such a bad level of German he could not verify.
My German level was hochdeutsch from public school.
Ended up Uebermittler in Luzern in a all-swiss-german speaking section.
First two weeks, I couldn’t even distinguish if somebody was speaking German or Swiss German. Yep I was that bad. I feared asking to speak Hochdeutsch because I was afraid to offend people that maybe were already doing the effort and I didn’t recognize it.
10 months later, i was 15k chf richer and learned to speak Swiss German. Which has been an enabler for my career. And no tax!

I had a job interview some 10y ago at Bern, a job at the federal government. They actually asked me about my service … and i am not even a citizen. So i guess it might still help you in case you want to work for the government.

Nice surprise today! 3a/pension fund withdrawals are taxed at 3% too 
So my 50k 3a withdrawal in 2024 just got taxed additionally. CHF 1’500 more to the state, yay!

FYI, I would have never guessed it had a chance of passing (it doesn’t make sense to me since foreigners can’t do military service) but:
The Nationalrat just voted to in favor of having the exemption tax apply to foreign nationals that are swiss residents (that said it’s just the beginning, one chamber and just a motion not actual law).
Doesn’t sound logical to me. The Swiss military is founded by the ordinary budget. Non-Swiss residents pay income and other taxes so do contribute to security. We’ll see where this goes.
Edit: to better express my true feelings as a Swiss citizen, I wish the parliament tried to be logical in its approach rather than target people without voting rights and fear this measure would put a dent in the stability and predictability of the Swiss system.

I mean, let’s be fair. I pay an extra 3% tax because I didn’t do my military service. All my friends have some dual citizenship or a foreign passport. They don’t pay this tax.
Sure, one notable difference for the foreigners, they were never offered to chose between service or the tax. For them, the only option would be the tax.
And for the dual citizens, this is clearly a loophole.
In the age of increased military spending, I definitely prefer that solution than increasing the VAT or other taxes..

Uh except for the french loophole (which is being closed), you need to do a proper military service to be exempted no?

Anyway it’s still early, and as the federal council points out it likely would need to be a separate tax (I still don’t believe this has a chance to pass tho, just wanted to provide an update).

No, they need to do only a one day thing which is basically a military recruitment/promotion event. From the Swiss perspective, if you’ve attended that event, you have fulfilled your military obligations on your French side and are exempted on the Swiss side.

Foreigners don’t have voting rights, they don’t have social welfare, they need to leave if they can’t sustain themselves but they are being asked to pay tax (in lieu of not doing military service which they also can’t do as they are not citizens). Citizens pay tax because they chose not to do service. Foreigners will pay because they can’t do it anyways
There is no sense of equality here. But of course since foreigners don’t have voting rights , any law can be made for them by those who do have voting rights.
