Investing with neon? Neon invest

Neon buys the ETF not on the SIX but on the BX Swiss, which is a secondary market. So the spread is even higher

Invesco FTSE All-World UCITS ETF Acc - BX Swiss => spread: 0.26%
Invesco MSCI World ESG Climate Paris Aligned UCITS ETF Acc - BX Swiss => spread: 1.03% !!

Here: FAQ.

So are securities bought with ‘Neon Invest’ and the ‘Investment Plan’ within Neon treated the same? Let’s say I bought 3 Tesla shares with ‘Neon Invest’ and have an ‘Investment Plan’ that buys 2 Tesla shares and 2 units of FWRA monthly. Can I then sell (or transfer) after on month 5 Tesla shares with a single order? If so, then the Neon ‘investment plan’ is very similar to IBRK’s ‘recurring investments’.

@Lackadaisical
Thanks for your link regarding my transfer question. But am i stuck at BX Swiss when i transfer my etfs or can I sell at SIX?

I understood it this way, yes. I will be able to tell you in about a month

Currently, you can’t transfert etfs outiside of Neon.

You can’t transfer FROM another broker TO neon, but you can OUT of neon TO another broker. See @Lackadaisical’s link above.

Thanks for writing it. In my opinion, they still do a great job, and it’t not thaaaat much, 500 franks in relation to 100k. I am a noob, though I managed to open up IB account some months ago and a Degiro Account years ago, I still only now managed to invest for the first time, thanks to Neon’s new offerings.
That’s just me.

Haven’t tested it, but I’d assume that you’re stuck with the Bernese exchange and can’t profit from Swissquote’s 9 frank pricing.

I did it a few months ago. You can remark on the transfer form that you want to have a change of stock exchange (“Börsenplatzwechsel”) done during the transfer. This worked for me when transferring FWRA, at Swissquote it was never listed at BX but at SIX from the start.

You can perform this Börsenplatzwechsel later as well, but it costs CHF 50. Because it was done during the initial transfer, I didn’t have to pay for it.

I was worried about the selling fee too. 0.5% per sell is alot if you have 100k in your portfolio.

I was thinking to buy ETF on IB, but IB is so complicated, thats why I went for NEON invest.

If I really want to sell portfolio (let’s say 100k) then I could transfer it to IB and then sell it from there. It would only cost 49CHF - compared to NEON, which would cost 500 CHF.

In my opinion, NEON is much easier for someone with the strategy “buy ETF and hold”.

@assemblyrequired In one of your post you made a calculation to find out where to buy ETF with maximum profit (you compared IB with swissquote, neon etc.) I can’t find that post anymore. I was wondering if you could give me the detailed calculation? I am trying to find out which broker I should use to invest in ETF. IB is too complicted, thats why I went for Neon invest. But the selling cost is more expensive, the idea of transfering to IB and then sell is a legit option.

I think you’re talking about this post. All the details are there.

If you don’t want to use IBKR and will limit yourself to FWRA, just use neon. It’ doesn’t get cheaper, you’re only paying 0.15% stamp duty.

Exactly this one. I was wondering how you did the calculation, did you use excel?
If so, I was wondering if you could share the excel? Then I can see the formula and everything, so that I understand how to calculate.

I did it with Numbers, but I don’t want to publish it, as it is intertwined with my personal finances.

But it’s basically just the FV function and substracting the fees from the start and monthly amounts.

Maybe you can use this Link

It is not very robust as @assemblyrequired but should give you an idea.

Edit -: i updated the link as i uploaded the older version in first go

Thank you so much! Your excel is amazing, now I understand how to calculate

Glad you find it useful

Hello,
I’m sorry, where did you find those 49chf? I can only find 100chf per position

Thx

“Yes, it is possible for 100 CHF per position. So if you have for example 30 Tesla shares and 17 Apple shares in your neon portfolio, transferring the deposit to another bank will cost you 200 CHF”

49CHF is the selling fee from IB. And yeah, 100 per position for transfer at NEON. So still cheaper than selling at neon
