I agree with an older car, I don’t do it myself on a car still under warranty that I might resell later.

To come back to the question from OP:
Sure, the quote is expensive if you only count parts needed and 30-45 min of work.
i could imagine that the apply a safety cussion if a non regular client asks for a quote. Some things might go bad during the oil change
- plastic protection under the engine might brake (if your car has one)
- Problems with the oil drain bolt might occur.
Both things can break without any wrongdoing by the mechanic. It would be a hassle for the mechanics to explain that you have to pay 100.- more because they had troubles with your oil drain bolt.
for that reason I recommand to be a regular client at a small workshop and let trust build.
