Really, the presentation of the 8$ bakery item (that in itself does look tasty!) is leaving lots to desire:
- Paper box!?
- Bathroom tile!
- Drink in a plastic container x.x
- with a paper straw!!
Do they not give a f*** or what is happening in Basel?

The drink was some kind of combination of milk + matcha + mango.
I managed to sample a bit of both before my kids devoured the roll and drink in record time and it gave them a sugar high to run around Basel like crazed animals.
If youâre paying that much already,
maybe try something decent next time. ![]()
(If youâre passing by ZH one day, happy to recommend a spot or two)
Oh thank you, itâs mango! Goofy and I will be able to rest peacefully tonight ![]()
Ah, you wanted to get Exorcist props? Is that what that green ladida detox thing and the goo on the cinnamon roll are? Is it celery?
Have you started a second carrier at Google as, ahem, wait, ⊠product information distribution manager?
Touché!
But Iâll happily wear the title Google VP of Product Information Distribution if it comes with a new set of stock based comp ⊠![]()
Fair enough. I have removed you from my watchlist of product information distribution managers.
And to illustrate the dangers in waiting, this component has now gone up in price to 7800, though there is a similar SKU for 7022.
True, but you can easily offset the cost of those GPUs by running your own SMR.
Combine this with trading 235U on the spot market and youâre almost guaranteed to permanently extinguish that smoldering fire of having difficulty spending money.

The simple solution is to get a wife - but you already did that I reckon. ![]()
Wife is more frugal than me.
Next step up is a mistress! ![]()
Many retired youtubers talk about this. Iâm just at the beginning of my journey towards FIRE, but already enjoy thinking about it. For example Joe Kuhnâs channel.
I repeatedly hear that FIREd folks start spending much more on stuff that maximizes their remaining time and experiences. Like paying for anything that feels like a chore (cleaning, shopping, repairing, administration, driving, cooking for some).
Iâm listening that book on youtube. Apart from the typical 1000 words to express 100 word ideas, I have to say that it show some good points.
Still it doesnât solve my problem. ![]()
Earlier in life I had difficulty NOT spending. At the end of the month thereâd be nothing left and, looking back, I regret so much of the âjunkâ i bought (as per Fight Club: buying stuff you donât need, with money you donât have, to impress people you donât like). I do NOT regret the travelling I did (to some VERY off the beaten track places) as well as the money spent on mountaineering and on some expensive collecting interests.
Over time, I changes things - still occasionally buy things I shouldnât but Iâve redefined spending by applying the âpay yourself firstâ rule. I.e. I now get just as much (if not more) pleasure from buying stocks, gold, paying down the mortgage, etc. Having said that, this is easier now that just about everything else I want in life is in place (great house, wife, a baby soon to be delivered, plenty of savings, pension sorted out, etc.). Now in a phase where enjoying life is more important than âclimbing the ladderâ. Not doing much crazy stuff (should I get that sports car or not?) but less, simpler, etc. is a good way of life I should have embraced earlier.
But maybe it is good you did the stupid stuff. You got it out of your system, did it and can move on. I can imagine someone who does none of that wondering âwhat ifâ. And maybe better you realise and spend in the past rather than now when the amounts are bigger!
Very good points. Am glad i got things out of my system earlier in life whereas now i have a lot more to lose (financially but also family and health).
Makes me think of standing on a mountain in a far corner of Turkmenistan with a few of a large plain in Afghanistan. My driver was not amused with my suggestion to take a look in Afghanistan. Then he said: look where you are standing now. I didnt get it, then he pointed ouT that i was standing in a large footprint in the rock of a dinosaur.
Good memories, but good to be in comfy CH now as wellâ![]()
Interesting thread, seems I already posted in it, no harm in posting some more:
I hate saving, but also have big aversion to spending. Forever I grew up in an environment where we were never bought âthe bestâ by our parents, not the best they could, or the best there was. It was always âsomething similarâ but never the shiny damn thing we actually wanted. To date I recall the best gifts I ever got I got from uncles and aunts. That said the parents had no issue getting âthe best" (they could, and was) for themselves⊠What I am trying to do is not impose the same limitations to my family, as the sole earner at the moment, but cheapskate me still does it for myself, even for costs that can be considered trivial because I rationalise that I am making savings to the best of my ability. Iâd love to splash money around, though, walk in a shop and really get the best my wallet can handle⊠Only place I consciously donât make savings is food and medicine.
