Politics always swings from one side to the other. We recently had peak woke/ESG and now we have the push back against that so it will swing the other way. At one point it will swing back again.
I think this is assuming there is some sort of mean reversion. What if it’s not?
I think it’s other way around. Price increased fast because central banks were buying gold. Isn’t it?
I don’t think central banks are very price sensitive.
Iirc central banks are net buyers since at least the Russian invasion (and probably the recent development in US policies accelerated it).
Agreed. I believe for central banks Gold is the main thing and currencies are credit against it ![]()
1kg Gold is approaching CHF 100k - am I the only one watching? ![]()
Sooo, one bitcoin?
Or 1/5’000 of a pizza:

And it’s done
Came across this in today’s WSJ (Why Gold Will Lose Its Luster):
“(Gold) gets dug out of the ground…then we melt it down, dig another hole, bury it again and pay people to stand around guarding it. It has no utility. Anyone watching from Mars would be scratching their head.”
— Warren Buffett
Was this the right topic to post this quote?
I’ll see myself out…

There seems to be something going on in Silverland. I guess people went from gold –> silver.
10y Gold
10y Silver
Silver - every 10 to 30 years some excitement!
We are in a silver squeeze
This is very susceptible to start and end timing as usual. Gold had a ~40% drawdown, and the start date of the graph is pretty much at the bottom of it:
(edit: source: https://testfol.io/analysis?s=2qn0nMhNd2Z)
(edit2: adjusted for inflation it is even a ~80% drawdown that took like almost 60 years to recover …)
Take a look at the gold silver ratio chart:
Silver took a while to get going but can violently catch up.
I made my original seed capital with a very lucky trade catching the bottom and peak in 2011.
I’m hoping for a bigger catch this time.
I switched from gold to silver at ratio 100 and was planning to switch back below ratio 70. Or sell, if I have a better idea ![]()
Yes. Timing matters. But Bloomberg was just talking about current century
Is the silver short squeeze on?
