Black Friday 2025

I am wondering how data only esims work?

  • Do they have access to all browsing data/phone data etc (in other words is it a potential security threat)?
  • Does it matter which esim someone buy for which country or all e-sims will have similar internet quality in most countries?
  • how would you rate BNE vs Revolut for e-Sim product quality ?

It’s just like a regular sim, just more convenient.

So will depend on operator and which roaming agreement they have.

I think if you install the app you get a cashback offer for black Friday. I got the message about it in the app. But I will not use it this year as I still have enough data from last year.

I tried searching for “digi esim”, but there were a lot of different offers. Which one are you using exactly?

The Spanish one:

It is 3 EUR per month for 5 GB in Spain and 4 GB in EU/US. In Spain very good connection, uses movistar. Did use it in France and Germany too.

Digi has offers for other countries I think, but I use it mostly in Spain.

Muchas gracias

I pay for an expensive phone plan with roaming to avoid the hassle of having to subscribe for data when i travel, even if it is only a few times a year (or when i accidentally stray too close to the border).

Do the eSIMs work transparently so that I can use a lower priced CH SIM contract and then switch to the eSIM for when the home network is not available?

I switch manually (“use internet with this sim”). My phone (and most others I think) can only handle two SIM at once, no matter if they are physical or eSIM.

A) It doesn’t have to be expensive (there’s unlimited data for Europe/US/Canada for 15-25CHF with Yallo subs)
B) You can easily buy (relatively cheap too) one-off eSim data plans via Revolut. It’s 3 clicks/taps away.

Thank you @cubanpete_the_swiss I installed the app and found non-expiring Europe wide offers like Chf 17.64 for 10 GB which I think is further discounted with code DBF for 20% cash back. This changes how I renegotiate my expiring Quickline offer

I also picked a 3GB lifetime plan for one of the countries. I might use it if i need it.

Glad to be of service.

If you check on the Internet you may find additional offers like at esimdb.com. Sometimes one can combine the offers.

My head is spinning trying to find a replacement for the Quickline offer. I travel quite a lot in Europe and consider some data roaming and free calls a security blanket. My costs are complicated by intermittent urgent needs for calls to fix lines in Sweden as my mother’s health deteriorate. If I am lucky I don’t need this but when needed it clocks up very quickly and it is hard to remember to change plans before you spend hours on emergency calls. I am looking at the Aldi offer through Deindeal which seems to offer adequate coverage at Chf 18.90/month, chf1 activation, no contract limit, 10G internet and 200 minutes calls in Europe, US, CA. Does that look like a decent solution to my particular case?

has as 19.95 plan for 2 years with unlimited CH (200gb high speed) and 50gb high speed (CHF 0.10 pro MB after that) for these countries: also unlimited calls to and inside those countries (and back to CH)

40chf for an plastic sim/esim. 21.62 per month for 2 years, is a awesome deal. Runs on sunrise network in CH

Probably too expensive for this fine assembly but Wingo Europe Pro for CHF 35.95 per month, CHF 59 activation fee. SMS, calls and data unlimited in CH + Europe (128 kbit/s past 40 Go outside of Switzerland). Sweden is included. Swisscom network.

Well done capitalism, you got me to spend 300 chf on unnecessary stuff!

I’m in similar shoes.

Up until now, i’ve paid 40 CHF for a mucho plan, that includes unlimited minutes to anywhere in Europe.

Last month, i’ve got an incredible offer from sunrise. Their travel-plus plan, for 1 CHF, that includes unlimited minutes and internet in neighboring countries and some extra to some other countries.

I’ve coupled this with a VoIP solution from Viber, called Viber out. For 6 CHF you can call as much as you want.

This is costing me a total of 1 for sunrise abo and 6 for the viber abo. Also the viber app is hassle free, works pretty much like your canonical phone app.

How did you get this offer from sunrise ?
